2040 Starts Now – Sustainability Lecture and Movie Screening

Kalmar Nation presents: 2040 Starts Now – Sustainability Lecture and Movie Screening!
Learn about practical climate solutions on both the large and small scale:
- Lecture: Prof. Kimberly Nicholas on reducing your climate footprint
- Movie screening: 2040 – Join the Regeneration
In the age of war and crises, it’s easy to turn to despair. At this event, we will focus on practical climate solutions on both the large and small, personal scale.
The event will start at 14:00 with a lecture by Professor Kimberly Nicholas of LUCSUS (Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies). She has published over 60 articles on climate and sustainability in leading peer-reviewed journals; writes for publications such as Elle, The Guardian, Scientific American, and New Scientist; and is the author of the Los Angeles Times bestseller “UNDER THE SKY WE MAKE: How to be Human in a Warming World”, and the climate advice newsletter ”We Can Fix It”.
Kimberly's research tends to focus on the connections between people, land, and climate, with the goal of stewarding ecosystems to support a good life for everyone alive today, and leave a thriving planet for future generations. For this lecture, she will be speaking about how you can reduce your carbon footprint and live more sustainably!
At approximately 15:00 we will watch the movie “2040 - Join the Regeneration”. The movie is 1.5 hours long and tells the story of filmmaker Damon Gameau, who travels the world in search of new approaches and solutions to climate change in concern about his daughter’s future. Following “2040” will be a discussion led by Kalmar Nation’s Sustainability Coordinators Cara and Chloe.
Light refreshments will be offered during the event.
The main message: Change is possible if we work together.
