Entry requirement, Selection criteria and Application
On this webpage we have gathered information about entry requirements, selection criteria, the application process and the necessary documents needed for a complete application.
Entry requirements and Selection criteria
To be admitted to the programme, the student must hold a Bachelor’s degree corresponding to at least 180 ECTS.
Proficiency in spoken and written English, equivalent to English 6/B in the Swedish upper secondary school system, is required. Recognition of qualifications is carried out in accordance with national guidelines.
Selection is based on academic grades, relevant work experience, statement of purpose and recommendations.
What bachelor’s degrees are suitable for admission to LUCAS?
This is by far the most common question we receive! The answer is that we admit students from all academic backgrounds - all majors are relevant. We are convinced that working with climate change and sustainability requires all kinds of fields and disciplines and better communication between them.
Application
The application is done in two steps. First you apply online, and then you submit your supporting documents.
Your online application should be submitted by January 15, 2025.
The online application is available via Lund University webpage.
After the application deadline in mid-January you have an additional two weeks to submit your documentation, but it is strongly recommended that you prepare and submit documents well in advance before the deadline.
Supporting documentation (and application fee, if applicable) deadline: February 3, 2025.
Supporting documents
There are a number of general documents that are required for all master’s level applications submitted to University Admissions in Sweden. Much of what you need to submit – and how – is based on where you completed your studies.
Find out what you need to submit on University Admissions in Sweden's website.
In addition to the general documentation stipulated by University Admissions Sweden, you must also submit several LUCAS-specific application documents.

The applicant must then forward the unopened letter/s to University Admissions in Sweden per mail or courier.
